Our Leadership Team

They are that – a team. But make no mistake, each one is a strong individual… bringing their own point of view and their own specific expertise to Speakeasy’s leadership effort. And each is deeply committed to their own journey toward more powerful communication.

With an average tenure of fifteen years, each member of this group represents a key element of our business - curriculum, consulting, client relations, operations and finance. And while each manages their individual areas of responsibility, their roles on this team are focused on balance and connection... on being connected enough with themselves that they can be open to others. And on using that openness to build trust and to lead... both our organization and the value it delivers to you.

Scott Weiss, CEO / Owner

Scott first came to Speakeasy as a client - after ten successful years as a senior executive on Wall Street and in the media entertainment industry. His own experience was profound enough that he joined the company as Executive VP and bought the business ten years later in 2003. Scott leads Speakeasy’s management effort - he is our visionary, and our most constant driver of both growth and quality. His best selling book DARE! has received a gold medal award for ethics, and he speaks regularly on the importance of honesty in communication. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_S._Weiss

Jeff McKenna, SVP New Markets, Americas; Managing Director Atlanta

Jeff McKenna says, “We provide our clients a human experience with a business benefit. I love that.” Jeff spent over 30 years in technology sales with companies such as NCR, Symbol Technologies and Vocollect, helping Symbol grow from $12 million to over $1 billion in revenue. He joined Speakeasy in 2004 and became an SVP of Sales and General Manager before returning to tech sales in 2008. Speakeasy was delighted to welcome him back to its leadership team in 2016. About that return, Jeff says, “The motivation to return to Speakeasy came through talks with friends of mine, many of whom helped build our digital economy. They all agreed that as people we’ve taken digital communications as far as it can go, where email and text often substitute for real interaction. That pendulum needs to swing back the other way, and Speakeasy is in an ideal position to help.” Jeff holds a B.A. degree in economics from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He and his wife Rhonda currently reside in the Asheville, NC area and are the proud parents of Emily, who lives in Raleigh, NC. The women in his life are his biggest motivation, but he also enjoys hiking in the Smokies, volunteering and rowing.
